£22,000 – £25,000 Dependant on Experience plus sleep in @£50 (average of 10 per month)

Working Pattern:
On a rolling rota 2 on 4 off.

Aims:

To work as part of a team endeavouring to provide quality residential childcare services for vulnerable children within a safe and secure environment.

To ensure that all young people receive high levels of care in accordance with Ofsted’s Standards.

Main Responsibilities:

To provide support for the young people ensuring their safety at all times.

To follow and promote safeguarding procedures within the home.

To communicate positively and engage proactively with young people.

To assist young people to deal positively with emotional and behavioral difficulties.

To develop the young people’s self-esteem and possess the ability to positively influence their life in a residential setting.

To ensure that all young people are encouraged to reach towards their full potential and to be sensitive and caring towards their needs.

To ensue that the wishes and feelings of the children are taken into account in matters and decisions relating to their daily care, appropriate to age and understanding.

To respect and promote the needs of each child arising from their racial, cultural, or religious background.

To be alert to the signs of distress or abuse, and in liaison with other professionals ensure that the young people are monitored and protected.

To safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people.

To participate in the planning, preparation and delivery of activities for young people in the home and wider community.

To take charge of services under your remit in the sustained absence of a Registered Manager and take responsibility of its day to day activities.

To act as a member of the staff team, support colleagues and new members of staff and being prepared to receive support as necessary.

Act as a mentor/role model for the other members of staff, providing guidance and support in developing their understanding of the care needs of the children and young people within the home.

Ensure that any known concerns about safeguarding young people within the home are reported to the Registered Manager or Deputy Manager immediately and take shared responsibility for seeking solutions.

To maintain communications with staff over all aspects of children and young people’s care, progress and behaviour and maintain appropriate records.

To communicate effectively with other staff, and actively participate in all staff meetings.

Other Responsibilities:

Remain enthusiastic and committed to providing the highest quality childcare.

Present yourself as a positive role model for the young person at all times.

Keep abreast of good practice in order to develop skills, knowledge and experience, and undertake all appropriate training when necessary.

Make use of supervision and appraisal in order to maintain and enhance your continuous professional development.

To be familiar with and comply with Health and Safety policies and procedures, and in the event of any serious risk, take immediate action to reduce this risk and inform the Director of Operations.

To work within the remit of AYA’s policies and procedures at all times.
